Homeschooling Isn’t Weird. What’s Weird Is Pretending the System Still Works
Let’s be honest: homeschooling isn’t the “weird” choice people act like it is.
What’s actually strange is sending our kids into a system that teaches them everything except the values we’re working so hard to raise them with.
I’ll happily take slower mornings over frantic ones.
I’ll take deeper conversations over rushed car-line chats.
And I’ll absolutely take actually knowing what my kids are learning and who they’re becoming over hoping for the best behind closed classroom doors.
If that makes me “different,” cool. I’ll take it.
Lately, I’ve watched a few of my kids’ friends amazing, sweet, smart kids switch into the traditional school system. And it’s heartbreaking how quickly things change. Suddenly they aren’t their own person anymore. They’re trying hard to fit in, blend in, or survive socially. Their kindness? Muted. Their confidence? Shaken. Their individuality? Replaced by whatever makes them acceptable to the group that day.
And it happens fast.
Especially during middle school and high school—the most impressionable years of their lives.
This isn’t about blaming parents. I know not everyone can homeschool. Life, work, resources… we’re all juggling something.
But here’s the part people forget:
If you want to homeschool but can’t do it alone you don’t have to.
At Creative STEAM, we support working parents, busy parents, overwhelmed parents, and anyone who wants more for their children than the traditional model can offer.
We provide:
Daily classes
Hands-on learning
Project-based academics
Structure and support
A safe, values-aligned environment
Teachers who truly see your child
Homeschooling doesn’t mean you have to teach everything yourself.
It means having control over your child’s education and community around you to help.
So tell me…
What’s one reason YOU would (or do) homeschool?
I’d love to hear your story. ❤️
