Class Structure:
Writer’s Workshop (1.5 hours):
Students build confidence in writing through guided lessons, sentence construction, spelling patterns, and age-appropriate composition. Instruction focuses on phonics-based spelling, handwriting, grammar, and developing ideas through structured prompts.
Reader’s Workshop (1.5 hour):
Phonics:
Level 1 - Grades K/1
Level 2 - Grades 2/3
Novel Book Club: - Reading an additional reading material. Participating in meaningful discussions to enhance reading comprehension.

This class is ideal for students who need extra reinforcement, slower pacing, or more repetition to master early reading and writing skills. Instruction is multi-sensory, encouraging, and aligned with our ELM Core class goals to help students become confident, capable readers and writers.
STEM SmartLab Block (Final Hour of the Day):
Students join the STEM program for the last block of the day, where engaging challenges bridge learning to careers and real-world applications.
Every SmartLab project centers on a challenge that connects an Integrated STEM Application to a Career and Industry Pathway. From the start, students see how their skills apply beyond the classroom, making learning both engaging and memorable. Students take on authentic, hands-on projects by designing solutions, testing ideas, and refining their work building skills that prepare them for upper grades, future careers, and beyond.
